The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
RSVP Volunteers provide a wide range of important community services in areas such as homeland security, public safety, health, education, the environment and elder care. They may tutor children in reading and math, respond to natural disasters, help to build houses, model parenting skills to teen parents, participate in neighborhood watch programs, plan community gardens, deliver meals, or help community organizations operate more efficiently. Whatever your interests and background, there is certainly an RSVP opportunity to match!

Description
RSVP is a unique program in that its flexibility allows persons, age 55 and over, of various skill levels and expertise to tackle problems that directly affect their communitites. Volunteers mentor children, support homebound seniors, assist community policing and prepare tax returns for the elderly and low-income individuals. This flexibility is what allows RSVP to serve it community in a myriad of ways.
Our volunteers, who work from four to 40 hours a week, can choose opportunities that best fit their active lifestyles. They can use the skills they've honed through their life and job experience, or try their hand at something completely new and different.
RSVP volunteers bring a diversity of interes and a uniformity of dedication to community service projects that cn change lives. Our volunteers enjoy the satisfaction of making a difference, building stronger and safer neighborhoods, and getting back even more than they give.
The true spirirt of RSVP is that our volunteers feel productive because they give in a way that makes a difference in their communitites.
