Walk to Defeat ALS™ ~ How Can I Get Involved??

The Walk to Defeat ALS™is The ALS Association's national signature event. Each year, over 65,000 patients, men, women, children and corporations join together to raise funds in support of community-based patient services programs and nationally driven cutting-edge research. What is a Walk Team? Your Walk Team includes anyone and everyone who wants to join in the effort to raise money for ALS and celebrate the success and support on Walk Day. Family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers... children, adults... create Walk teams. They come in all shapes and sizes! Walk Teams and their fundraising efforts drive the success of a Walk. More team walkers means an increased opportunity for fundraising and increased awareness for ALS... There are two primary types of Walk Teams:

Family Walk Teams: A Family Walk Team is typically created by family members and friends whose lives have been personally touched by ALS. As described above these teams are made up of family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. Family Teams usually rally around PALS, or "Patients with ALS."

Corporate Walk Teams: A Corporate Walk Team is created when a company wants to support ALS and the Walk. These teams are generally made up of coworkers and their family and friends. Corporate Teams may or may not have a personal connection to ALS - but they are all dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by ALS.

Corporate Sponsorship Local businesses may also choose to support the Walk as Corporate Sponsors. Corporate Sponsors receive exposure at the Walk and on various Walk materials in exchange for a Cash Sponsorships ranging from $500 to $15,000. Businesses may also choose to become In-Kind Sponsors. In-Kind Sponsorships assist ALSA in keeping our Walk expenses low - therefore allowing more donated dollars to go towards local programs and services and national research. In-Kind Sponsors also receive exposure at the event and on various materials.

Walk Volunteers The Walk to Defeat ALS™ is only made possible by the passion and dedication of our wonderful volunteers. Volunteer Opportunities for the Walk include:

Walk Day Volunteers: Set-up, Registration, T-shirts, Clean-up, etc

Walk Chairs & Committees: These volunteers work directly with the ALSA Staff on planning for the Walk. Areas include: Walk Logistics, Entertainment, Food & Beverage, etc. Please contact events@alsanne.org for additional information about these positions.
