PURPOSE OF JOB: Acting as an ambassador for Hudson Gardens, operate and maintain the G-scale Garden Railroad display and surrounding landscape.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Duties Include:
- Ensure proper operation of garden railroad by preparing, setting up, putting away, cleaning, and performing light repairs and maintenance for the garden railroad cars, tracks, and model villages.
- Perform general landscape maintenance for the Garden Railroad landscape. Duties include cleaning planting beds, weeding, deadheading, pruning, raking, and hand-watering.
- Interact with guests in a professional manner to answer questions, provide directions, and ensure visitor safety.
Shift Information:
- Weekly commitment preferred (1-2 shifts/week).
- Shifts are available Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday.
- Four hours per shift (10 AM - 2 PM).
- May through October.
Location:
- Outdoors, onsite at Hudson Gardens.
Attire:
- Hudson Gardens volunteer shirt (provided).
- Closed-toe shoes.
- Name tag (provided).
QUALIFICATIONS:
General:
- Must be aged 18 or older.
- Must demonstrate a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, or kneel for up to four hours.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Experience with outdoor model trains preferred.

The Hudson Gardens & Event Center is a regional display garden, showcasing plants that grow well in Colorado’s Front Range climate. Our thirty acres of gardens are designed to educate and inform our guests by providing diverse opportunities to gain knowledge about plants, gardening, wildlife, and environmental stewardship. Hudson Gardens is also a multipurpose recreational facility featuring educational displays and programs, cultural and community events, and venues for private social and corporate gatherings. Since 2012, Hudson Gardens has offered free general admission to the community.
