Learning Buddies volunteers connect with elementary students in Dakota & Southern Washington County schools to provide academic support and create intergenerational connections. Volunteers work with the same class and teacher for the entire school year. Contact: volunteer@darts1.org or call 651-234-2227 to learn more.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Volunteers are ages 55+
- Ability to relate well and communicate with children
- Agree to treat all children equally and with respect
- Work with students once a week throughout the school year
- Attend an orientation and training session, transportation may be available upon request
- Take direction from the teacher to provide reading, math, science, art or other support
- Keep information learned while volunteering confidential
- Willingness to follow guidelines as determined by DARTS and the participating school
