Bike Hike and Brews; Sunday Strolls

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Hagley Museum and Library

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 4 people are interested

If you enjoy meeting and interacting with people, consider becoming a Bike & Hike volunteer. Whether helping to direct cars, greeting guests as they arrive, assisting bikers and hikers along the mile-long trail, or photographing each event, you will have many opportunities to be a "people person" and share your enjoyment of Bike & Hike with both return guests and first-timers. Your friendliness and enthusiasm may just be what guests remember most and the reason they keep coming back all summer!

Bike and hike takes place every Wednesday evening, June-August.

Sunday strolls: on the second Sundays in April through September, in the morning or afternoon, guests can stroll along the most beautiful mile in the Brandywine Valley, around Hagley's history.Volunteers will ensure guests remain on the paths and in public areas. Use of radio for emergencies.

About Hagley Museum and Library

Location:

PO Box 3630, Wilmington, DE 19807, US

Mission Statement

Hagley Museum and Library collects, preserves, and interprets the unfolding history of American enterprise. Hagley is located on 235 acres by the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware.

Description

Located on 235 acres along the banks of the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware, Hagley is the site of the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802. This example of early American industry includes restored mills, a workers' community, and the ancestral home and gardens of the du Pont family.

Hagley's library furthers the study of business and technology in America, especially the Middle Atlantic region. The collections include individuals' papers and companies' records ranging from eighteenth-century merchants to modern telecommunications and illustrate the impact of the business system on society.

The Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society organizes and administers the Hagley Museum and Library's interaction with the world of scholarship. It brings attention to Hagley's research collections and generates intellectual dialogue at Hagley.
