Are you looking for an opportunity to encourage girls' interest in computer science, engineering and tinkering/Making on a regular basis? If not, do you know someone who might?

Volunteer to be a Techbridge Girls STEM/Making Mentor!

We are seeking mentors to support teams of girls at ACE and Global Connections High Schools in SeaTac, WA as they design, make and prepare to showcase their projects at science fairs and Family Nights. You may have expertise in computer science, engineering, Making, or just a desire to help girls translate their visions into reality!

This is our first ever high school program in Greater Seattle. Our high school programs have been very successful in Oakland, largely thanks to the dedicated mentors there. For more information on Techbridge's award-winning after-school programs in underserved communities, visit our website, techbridgegirls.org, including the blog post describing our high school girls at the Bay Area Maker Faire.

Mentors will commit to visiting the Techbridge high school program every 2 weeks starting in October 2016 and ending with our Family Night in March/April 2017. Each Mentor will be matched with one small group of high school girls. Mentors help girls troubleshoot problems with their projects; build girls' skills and confidence; and form relationships that change girls' lives.

The weekly meeting time for our Techbridge program is:

Tuesdays from 2:30-4:45 pm

4424 S 188th St.

SeaTac, WA 98188

Thank you for being a role model for Techbridge girls. Because of the dedication of role models like you, Techbridge girls can imagine changing the world through science, technology and engineering.

Mission Statement

Techbridge Girls excites, educates, and equips girls from low-income communities to achieve economic mobility and better life chances by delivering high quality science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming. We envision a world where all girls have the opportunity to lead, contribute and thrive in STEM, regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances.

Description

Our after-school programs empower girls in grades 5-8 at public schools in low-income communities through a combination of: fun, hands-on activities in a girl-friendly environment; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) professionals serving as role models; field trips to local employers; and family events. Our program not only introduces girls to technical concepts and skills, but builds key character traits like perseverance and grit, and helps girls explore a wide array of STEM careers.
