Description
In the military Cover My 6 means having someone's back, that is precisely what our organization aims to do in Iowa; having the backs of those who have served our country or are currently serving. Our main focus is the Military Draft Softball Tournament in September, an event where we raise proceeds for local programs supporting service men and women. Last year the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team played in our tournament, the manager of that team started a competitive amputee softball team this year, the Louisville Slugger Warriors Softball team. This team will be featured in our 2016 tournament.
The Louisville Slugger Warriors are a national slow pitch softball team made up of U.S. Military Veterans and Active Duty players who have suffered a service-connected amputation. The tournament draws more than 220 players. Saturday night the Louisville Slugger Warrior team will play against an Iowa All-Star team. Be prepared to be inspired, it will give you a whole new respect for our nation's heroes and what they overcome after deployment. Following their game, local military members will play against local policemen and firefighters.
