Are you a Veteran? Are you interested in helping other Veterans? Great Lakes Caring Hospice, a leading care provider in the Midwest, is looking for compassionate Veteran volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Great Lakes Caring partners with the We Honor Veterans organization, and we strive to provide excellent care to our Veteran patients. Great Lakes Caring Hospice is looking for Companion Volunteers who will visit our Veteran patients in local nursing facilities or in private homes.
The Companion Volunteer will provide companionship, play cards/games, watch TV, take the patient out into the garden area for fresh air, read to patient, etc. There is no physical care involved. Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends. Typically, we ask that you would visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week.

Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you’ll ever spend.
Elara Caring Hospice is currently looking for Volunteers: Companion Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Veteran Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Crafting Volunteers. We have patients in need in outlying areas as well as the Grand Rapids Area. These areas include Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Wayland/ Hastings, Greenville, Rockford, Holland, and Saugatuck/Douglas.
