Caring for the terminally ill can be very exhausting for loved ones. The role of a caregiver is to provide patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week leaving little time or no time to do anything outside the home. Hospice volunteers can provide a much needed break by sitting with the patient to provide safety while the caregiver runs errands such as grocery shopping, banking, doctor’s appointments, or buying groceries. It only takes a caring heart, a listening presence and a willingness to help.
