A great opportunity to give back to your community by helping to maintain the inventory in our food pantry. Our food pantry serves more than 8,000 households on the South Shore and distributes about 900,000 lbs of food per year. The driver's assistant would go out on food pick-ups with our staff member who drives our van. We pick up food from the Greater Boston Food Bank and Amazon twice per week and 5-6 local grocery stores daily. This volunteer would help to load our van with food items that are being picked up from various locations. Then the volunteer would help unload the food at our location (105 Adams St in Quincy). The volunteer would also help to re-stock the pantry shelves and dispose of expired food. Qualifications include: friendly and personable demeanor; ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to read, speak and write in English.
Days and Times Needed: Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am - 12:30pm and Wednesday and Friday 10am - 1pm (min time requirement is one 3-4 hour shift per week)
Interested candidates should email Paula Daniels at pdaniels@interfaithsocialservices.org.

Mission Statement
Interfaith Social Services' mission is to strengthen family life and offer assistance to anyone in need in the South Shore area.
Description
Interfaith Social Services is a nonreligious 501(c)(3) organization serving the disadvantaged on Massachusetts’ South Shore since 1947. Our organization offers a variety of services to assist our clients in their ascent out of poverty. Last year ISS volunteers distributed over 430,000 lbs of food to needy families and individuals. Food is the necessity that brings people to our doors, in turn they learn about our other programs like The New Directions Counseling Center. The Center is structured around a sliding fee scale, thus ensuring that anyone who needs help can get it regardless of income. Clients learn about HomeSafe, a homelessness prevention and emergency assistance program. They can get a few free outfits to wear to job interviews in our Career Closet. Or they can shop for low cost clothing and household goods at our Bureau Drawer Thrift Shop. ISS is the only comprehensive service agency on the South Shore.
