ORGANIZATION: Safe Shores--The DC Children's Advocacy Center

The Clothing Closet Volunteer would work in coordination with the Victim Services Staff at Safe Shores--The DC Children's Advocacy Center. Specifically, the Clothing Closet Volunteer would be responsible for: Sorting, washing and organizing donated clothing; compiling Emergency Take-Away bags and toiletry bags for children; maintaining the organization of the Clothes Closet; maintaining inventory system of Clothes Closet; aiding in Clothes Closet inventory exchange (at beginning of spring/summer and fall/winter seasons); assiting Victim Services staff in tasks related to annual drives; and, communicating to Victim Services Coordinator when clothing or take-away bag inventory is low. ** Clothing Closet Volunteers must be able to volunteer during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.** If interested, please contact the Victim Services Coordinator at nborrello@safeshores.org or (202) 638-2575 x 112.

Description

Safe Shores - The D.C. Children's Advocacy Center is a direct service nonprofit organization dedicated to helping child victims of sexual and physical abuse in the District of Columbia.

Through its child-friendly facility and multidisciplinary team approach, Safe Shores coordinates the work of medical and mental health providers, social services professionals, victim advocates, law enforcement and prosecution officials to reduce trauma and promote healing for child victims of abuse.
