Be a part of our Volunteer Docent Guild for 2017! We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate volunteers for arts and culture at The Bascom, A Center for the Visual Arts.
Docents get exclusive access to artist meet and greets, guest curators, guest jurors, and much more!
The Bascom staff will provide you with educational and historical information of the exhibitions , tips for engaging visitors and "inside stories" about each exhibition and artists(s) involved. This information will be provided in docent training sessions and in written notes contained in the volunteer notebooks at each volunteer station. Docents are required to attend training sessions in person. Training will be conducted by the Director of Exhibitions and/or the Volunteer Coordinator. The training sessions are a great way to socialize with other docents and you’ll have a chance to ask your own questions about the current exhibitions and activities at The Bascom. You are also encouraged to explore the various subjects on your own; take advantage of The Bascom’s art library for reference materials on display that relate to each exhibit.
Volunteer Docents have two available shifts Monday-Friday beginning in May, 2017. First shift is from 10a-1:30p. Second shift is 1:30p-5p.
If you would like to join our Volunteer Docent Guild, please contact Tonya Anderson at 828.787.2898. Application and Interview required.
