If you self-identify as LGBTQ+, are 18 or older, and have 5 hours per month to spare, then check us out! The Peer Listening Line and LGBT Helpline of Fenway Health provide information, referral and support to lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, queer, genderqueer and questioning callers through our anonymous toll-free nationwide lines. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the Program Coordinator, Jo Wisch at jwisch@fenwayhealth.org or 617-927-6242 for a volunteer application. We are especially in need of volunteers who are able and willing to work a later shifts (8:30-11pm) any day of the week and Saturday evenings. We accept volunteers 16 years of age and up. A weekend-long New Volunteer Training is mandatory, and we require a minimum commitment of a 2 1/2 hour shift every- or every-other week for 6 months. Come be the voice that answers our community's call!

The mission of Fenway Community Health is to enhance the physical and mental health of our community, which includes those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and the people who live and work in our neighborhood. We provide high quality, comprehensive health care in a welcoming environment. We seek to improve the overall health of the larger community, locally and nationally, through education, advocacy and research.

Description

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Helpline, along with the youth-only Peer Listening Line is a program of Fenway Community Health in Boston MA. Its mission is to provide anonymous information, referrals, and support to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (GLBTQ) callers via our toll free, anonymous, nationwide phone number. Volunteers who are 25 years old or younger staff the Peer Line but the Helpline has volunteers of all ages.
