Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis for the Benefits Connection Center . New Mexico is one of the poorest states in the nation, yet our participation rate in benefit programs is lower than many others. As a volunteer at Adelante’s Benefits Connection Center, you can help seniors and people with disabilities find out what benefits they are eligible to receive. Working in the Center itself. To volunteer, you must be able to answer calls pleasantly, following a basic script, and perform administrative tasks like keyboarding, printing, and faxing. Training will be provided. You must be able to speak clearly and hear well on the phone. Doing outreach for the Center. Several individuals are needed to help with outreach. This important volunteer role would help educate seniors and people with disabilities about the Benefits Connection Center and what it can do to help them apply for benefits for which they may qualify. Adelante is a locally founded nonprofit 501(c)3 human service agency with locations throughout New Mexico. A
Adelante was formed in 1978, a time when ideas such as independence, rights, choice and respect were emerging. The agency embraced those concepts and decided to make a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
Since then, Adelante has taken the opportunity to expand services as needs have arisen. Today, the agency is a diverse nonprofit organization that supports people with mental and physical disabilities, seniors, and disadvantaged populations across New Mexico. We innovate to meet the needs of the community.
