This volunteer program is for anyone interested in volunteering that is under the age of 60 and has no underlying health conditions. Note: We’ve designated our Wednesday morning volunteer program for those in the higher risk categories listed above to minimize risk of COVID-19 exposure. Come join us for a morning in habitat restoration activities such as weeding, mulching and native planting and work towards our mission of building community, connecting people with nature, and protecting and enhancing Mount Sutro, one of the city’s wildest and most beautiful green spaces. In response to COVID-19, we are asking all volunteers to provide their own mask. We are also asking volunteers to provide their own landscaping gloves if possible. Please bring your own water and snacks and make sure to wear clothes you can get dirty in. We will meet in the parking lot of 476 Johnstone Drive. Parking is available in the red parking stalls or along Clarendon Avenue. Once you RSVP, we will be reaching out to you with a more in depth info packet and two participation waivers. Please email Kelly Dodge, kelly@sutrostewards.org with any questions or concerns!

About Sutro Stewards
Location:
Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve, San Francisco, CA 94131, US
Mission Statement
The mission of the Sutro Stewards is to build community, connect people with nature, and protect and enhance Mount Sutro, one of the city’s wildest and most beautiful green spaces. We do this by working with volunteers to develop and maintain multi-use trails while conserving habitat for locally native plants and wildlife.
Description
Sutro Stewards work to conserve habitat through ecological restoration and native plant propagation while providing recreational opportunities in the UCSF Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve. In the last decade, the true value of the open space was revealed through the Sutro Stewards’ creation of multi-use trails, allowing the public to explore this exceptional place.
Since 2006, we have mobilized volunteers to build trails, remove invasive species, and grow and install native plants. We work with city agencies and land managers to continue to expand the network of connectivity between San Francisco opens spaces and engage the community in the planning of improvements and long-term stewardship of each project.
