GLEAN TEAM CALL-OUT

Are you passionate about feeding people who are food insecure and eliminating food waste? Love being outdoors and volunteering? You might be just the person Indy Hunger Network is looking for to connect excess produce with the people who need it!

Gleaning is the process of harvesting crops that would otherwise be left in the fields or plowed under because farmers do not have access to the labor, time or transportation needed to donate to local food banks and pantries.

We are looking for hard-working volunteers to take part in one-time or ongoing gleaning efforts at area farms. Volunteers will harvest produce and/or help transport food to local food banks and pantries. We will harvest anything from apples to zebra-striped tomatoes - valuable sources of nutrition for families in central Indiana.

If interested in learning more or to subscribe to our "Glean Alert" email list, call Tracey Horan at (317)925-0191 x169 or email thoran@gleaners.org.

WARNING: If you glean once, you may get hooked! After hours of sunshine, connection with earth and good conversation, "Gleaners" have been known to come back for more and even bring friends!
