The North Beach-Chinatown Beacon Center’s third and last Read Aloud contest of the year is coming up soon! Read Aloud is an activity that helps 6 th -8 th grade students at Francisco Middle School practice their oral skills in front of judges and peers. Last school year, almost 100 youth participate in this exciting activity!
We're looking for community volunteers who can be serve judges for the small groups of youth who will be competing, while others will be helping organize/rank the groups through the different levels of the contest. Volunteers don't need to have any previous experience judging speech or oral competitions, just a desire to support our youth and willingness to jump right in! We need 12-15 judges and 3-5 general volunteers. Donations for food for the events and prizes such as gift cards are also welcome.
· What: Beacon Read Aloud Contest
· When: Saturday, May 2, 9am - 1 pm (8:45 for volunteers)
· Where: Francisco Middle School, 2190 Powell Street
